| What Real News? You get news from TV now you say. Isn't that real news? So you've heard these censored news stories of 2004? (see Censored 2005 below) A few? One, then you are not getting the
real news. So why don't you get these important news stories from your newspapers or TV news broadcasts you can ask?
That is what this site is all about. Years ago there were hundreds of news outlets. As of 2005 there are now 6 corporations that control most of what you hear and read.
Take AOL/Time Warner for example. Of course they own AOL, and many more. (see list). Your local paper may not be owned by some huge media conglomerate like AOL/Time Warner. The issue becomes profit before journalism as local news sources rely on the likes of AP/NY Times/Wall Street Journal/ Etc to feed them what they consider relevant. And in the process the real news gets filtered out.

| Why Real News? | Let the people know the truth and the country is safe - Abraham Lincoln
| "to preserve our democracy and protect ourselves against demagogues, we should have courses in schools on how to watch TV, how to read newspapers, how to analyze a speech – how to understand the limitations of each medium and make a judgment as to the accuracy or the motives involved. - Walter Cronkite
| "There is no more important struggle for American democracy than ensuring a diverse, independent and free media. - Bill Moyers
| "One of our best-kept secrets is the degree to which a handful of huge corporations control the flow of information in the US. Whether it is TV, radio, newspapers, magazines, books or the Internet, a few giant conglomerates are determining what we see, hear and read."
- Rep Bernie Sanders
| "...since 9/11, US reporters are simply too afraid to ask the uncomfortable questions that could kill careers..."
- Dan Rather
| "It is possible to fool all the people all the time when government and press cooperate.'
- George Seldes 1938
| "People shouldn't expect the mass media to do investigative stories. That job belongs to the 'fringe' media." - Ted Koppel (see our links) |
